Misconduct Monitoring

The Editor is committed to maintaining high ethical standards and taking all possible measures against any professional misconduct in the journal. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. By submitting a manuscript, authors declare that their work is original and unpublished, and that it has not been submitted for consideration to other journals nor copied or plagiarized, in whole or in part, from other publications. Authors must complete the originality declaration form.

Articles submitted by authors are preliminarily reviewed by the Editor in light of the journal’s editorial policy and the requirements established in the Author Guidelines. If a manuscript does not satisfy this initial review, it will be returned to the authors for revision and subsequent resubmission.

To address cases of plagiarism, the Revista Científica del Amazonas follows the COPE Flowcharts.

The plagiarism detection process of the Journal is as follows:

All articles will be screened using anti-plagiarism software through Turnitin Similarity Check. [See anti-plagiarism policy] If the manuscript presents a high percentage of similarity, the author will be notified, documentary evidence (software report) will be provided, and a response will be requested.

If authors are found guilty of plagiarism:

a) The editor of the journal in which the original plagiarized article was published and the authors of the plagiarized article will be informed;

b) The Revista Científica del Amazonas will publish an official retraction of the article;

c) The Revista Científica del Amazonas will not publish any further articles by the authors involved in the plagiarism for a period of five (5) years.

Any ethical violation related to the manuscript will be resolved in accordance with the protocols established in the COPE Flowcharts.

Authorship and Contribution

Authorship belongs to those individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the article. All individuals who have made significant contributions to the article must be listed as co-authors. Other persons who contributed to substantive aspects of the research should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author is responsible for including all co-authors and collaborators in the manuscript and ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the document prior to publication.

When authorship of an article is shared, it must be formally declared that:

a) All authors have made an intellectual contribution to its development;

b) They agree with the content of the manuscript;

c) The work has not been previously published in any other journal or format.

Authors must ensure that the data presented in the article are accurate and have not been altered to confirm or refute the hypotheses or assumptions formulated. Sex and Gender Considerations in Research (SAGER Guidelines)

The Revista Científica del Amazonas adheres to the SAGER Guidelines (Sex and Gender Equity in Research), promoting equity in research through the systematic inclusion of sex and gender dimensions in published studies. These guidelines were developed by the European Association of Science Editors (EASE), an internationally recognized organization committed to quality and ethics in scientific publishing.

EASE is a non-profit organization founded in 1982 that collaborates with editors, researchers, and international bodies such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Its recommendations are widely adopted by scientific journals indexed in databases such as Scopus and Web of Science, ensuring transparency and rigor in academic publishing.

Therefore, in the Revista Científica del Amazonas, authors must:

  1. Indicate whether the study considers sex and gender variables in its design, analysis, and reporting of results. If these variables have not been included, a clear justification must be provided.
  2. Specify the sex and/or gender of human participants, animals, cells, or biological materials used in the research and describe how these differences were considered in the methods and analyses.
  3. Report whether the study results have been disaggregated by sex and gender and provide an appropriate interpretation of the observed differences, when applicable.
  4. Use inclusive and precise language when describing study subjects, avoiding inappropriate generalizations or interpretative bias.
  5. Follow the reporting guidelines of the SAGER Guidelines, ensuring that research published in the journal reflects best practices in considering sex and gender in science.

Authors are encouraged to review the complete SAGER Guidelines document available at:
https://ease.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/EASE-SAGER-Checklist-2022.pdf

Compliance with these recommendations will be considered during the manuscript evaluation and review process.

Journal Management

The Revista Científica del Amazonas is dedicated to publishing articles under the highest standards of quality and ethics. It complies with the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

At the Revista Científica del Amazonas, these ethical standards are maintained at all stages of publication and among all members of the journal, including authors, the Editor, reviewers, and the publisher.

a) General obligations and responsibilities of the Editor. The Editor is responsible, when necessary, for all matters related to published articles and their quality; editorial decisions; maintenance of records associated with articles, authors, and reviewers; confidentiality of individual data; continuous improvement of the journal; response to needs, criticisms, complaints, and suggestions from readers, authors, and reviewers. c) Relations with journal editors. The Editor will promote academic relationships with editors of other journals.

d) Relations with the editorial team. The Editor will establish guidelines regarding the responsibilities of the Editorial Committee and maintain continuous communication with its members.

Editorial Process and Peer Review

The Editor will protect the identity of reviewers and define expectations for them. The Editor will ensure that the review process is confidential, fair, impartial, and conducted in accordance with reviewers’ availability.

As a peer-reviewed journal, the Revista Científica del Amazonas submits all received articles to a rigorous evaluation process by external academic peers, both national and international, experts in the relevant subject areas, under the double-blind modality. If any reviewer identifies a conflict of interest, they must declare it in order not to be considered. The Editor will resolve conflicts of interest within a reasonable timeframe.

Regarding the evaluation process, the Editorial Committee reviews articles that meet the established author requirements. If a manuscript does not satisfy this initial review, it will be returned to the authors for revision and resubmission.

Subsequently, the article is sent to referees within the relevant field of knowledge. The material is sent to reviewers without the names of the author(s). Likewise, the author(s) will not know the identity of the reviewer(s).

Upon receipt of favorable or unfavorable evaluations from the referees, the editorial team decides on the publication of the article. The reviewers’ comments will be communicated to the authors, who must address the observations and suggestions within the timeframe indicated by the Editorial Committee.
