The Revista Científica del Amazonas adheres to the Core Practices and follows the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, both published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Misconduct Monitoring
The Editor is committed to maintaining high ethical standards and taking all possible measures against any professional negligence that may occur in its publication. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Authors, when submitting a document, declare that it is original and unpublished, and furthermore, that it has not been submitted for consideration by other journals or that it has not been copied or plagiarized, in whole or in part, from other publications, for which they must complete the originality declaration form.
Articles submitted by authors undergo an initial review by the editor to ensure compliance with the journal’s editorial policy and author guidelines. If a manuscript does not pass this first review, it will be returned to the authors for adjustment and resubmission.
To handle plagiarism cases, the Revista Científica del Amazonas follows the COPE Flowcharts.
Plagiarism Detection Process
All articles will be checked using Turnitin Similarity Check anti-plagiarism software [See plagiarism policy]. If a document shows a high similarity percentage, the author will be notified, provided with documentary evidence (software report), and requested to respond.
If authors are found guilty of plagiarism:
a) The editor of the journal where the original plagiarized article was published and the authors of the plagiarized article will be informed.
b) The Revista Científica del Amazonas will publish an official retraction of the article.
c) The Revista Científica del Amazonas will not publish any other article from the authors involved in plagiarism for a period of 5 years.
Any ethical violation related to a document will be resolved using the protocols established in the COPE Flowcharts.

Authorship belongs to individuals who contributed significantly to the development, design, execution, or understanding of the article. All individuals who made a significant contribution to the article should be listed as co-authors. Others who contributed to substantial parts of the research should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The lead author is responsible for including all co-authors and collaborators and ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the document for publication.
When authorship is shared, it must be formally declared that:
a) All authors have intellectually contributed to the development of the article.
b) They agree with the content of the manuscript.
c) The work has not been previously published in any other journal or format.
Authors must ensure that the data presented in the article is accurate and has not been altered to verify or support hypotheses. The Revista Científica del Amazonas, in its commitment to research transparency, requires authors to provide their ORCID ID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID).

The Editor will respond as soon as possible to any complaints generated during the editorial process. Communication will be handled via email at revistadelamazonas@gmail.com confidentially. If the issue cannot be resolved, it will be addressed by the Editorial Committee.

Sex and gender considerations in research (SAGER Guidelines)
The Revista Científica del Amazonas adheres to the SAGER Guidelines (Sex and Gender Equity in Research), promoting equity in research through the systematic inclusion of sex and gender dimensions in published studies. These guidelines were developed by the European Association of Science Editors (EASE), an internationally recognized organization committed to quality and ethics in scientific publishing.
EASE is a non-profit organization, founded in 1982, that collaborates with editors, researchers, and international bodies such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Its recommendations are widely adopted by scientific journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, ensuring transparency and rigor in academic publishing.
Therefore, in the Revista Científica del Amazonas, authors must:
- Indicate whether the study considers sex and gender variables in its design, analysis, and presentation of results. If these variables have not been included, a clear justification must be provided.
- Specify the sex and/or gender of human participants, animals, cells, or biological materials used in the research and describe how these differences were considered in the methods and analysis.
- Report whether study results have been disaggregated by sex and gender and provide an appropriate interpretation of any observed differences, when applicable.
- Use inclusive and precise language when describing study subjects, avoiding inappropriate generalizations or biased interpretations.
- Follow the reporting guidelines of the SAGER Guidelines, ensuring that research published in the journal reflects best practices in considering sex and gender in science.
Authors are encouraged to review the full SAGER Guidelines, available at:
https://ease.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/EASE-SAGER-Checklist-2022.pdf
Compliance with these recommendations will be considered during the evaluation and peer review process of manuscripts.
