Digital Preservation Policy
The Revista Científica del Amazonas is committed to safeguarding its published content over the long term, ensuring that both researchers and the general public can access its valuable academic production at any time.
This digital preservation policy establishes the necessary guidelines and procedures to protect our digital assets. By utilizing advanced technologies such as the PKP PN (PKP Preservation Network) system and DOI identifiers, as well as implementing regular backups, we aim to mitigate the risks associated with technological obsolescence and data loss, while ensuring the content's long-term preservation, restoration, and uninterrupted perpetual access.
Digital preservation is not only a technical responsibility but also a promise to our authors, readers, and the scientific community in general. Through this policy, Revista Científica del Amazonas reaffirms its commitment to open access and transparency, ensuring that the discoveries and knowledge shared will remain accessible and relevant in the future.
To meet the goals of digital preservation, Revista Científica del Amazonas uses various technologies.
PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)
Revista Científica del Amazonas is supported by the OJS system technology and complies with the requirements of the PKP Preservation Network, which ensures the long-term preservation of the content of its articles. To achieve this, PKP PN uses the advanced LOCKSS technology, which offers a decentralized preservation system distributed among participating libraries. This system enables the creation of permanent archives of the journal for conservation and restoration purposes, ensuring uninterrupted perpetual access.
DOI
Revista Científica del Amazonas guarantees the long-term preservation and accessibility of its content through the use of the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) service and secure storage on our servers. The DOI system ensures that each published article has a unique and persistent identifier, making it easier to locate and cite over time. Additionally, all journal files are stored on secure servers, ensuring their integrity and continuous availability to the academic community and the general public.
Backups
As part of its digital preservation processes, Revista Científica del Amazonas performs daily backups of the OJS platform through a maintenance plan that includes files, issues, and articles stored on secure servers. Additionally, journal issues and articles are stored on external NAS hard drives (cloud storage) for further protection.
